Be prepared to fall in love again this October as GMA Films and Viva Films present Till I Met You, starring Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez. After a long time, these two lovebirds are back to give their fans the thrill of a lifetime!
Robin Padilla plays Gabriel, a ranch hand who is like a son to the local haciendero, Don Manuel (Eddie Garcia). One day, Don Manuel brings home Luisa (Regine Velasquez), whom he plans to marry. It is only Gabriel who realizes that Luisa isn’t all that she seems to be, and the more he tries to find out about who she really is, the more he finds himself falling for her. Says Robin of his character, “Di naman siya bad, di naman siya good. Isa siyang mahilig sa kabayo, sa nature. Isa siyang totong tao.”
He goes on to say that Till I Met You was really five years in the making – that is, if you count the time he spent persuading Regine to do another film with him! “Nagtampo ako diyan,” Robin says, meaning Regine. “Limang taon akong – lambing yan, ha, di totoo – limang taon kong liniligawan ‘yan na gumawa ulit (ng pelikula.) Ngayon, pinagbigyan ako.”
Finally, Regine said yes. She was so enthusiastic about the project she even convinced Robin to cut his then waist-length hair! “Lagi ko yata ginagawa ‘yan,” Regine laughs. “Yung first time, sa Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, ako din ‘yun. He was growing it pero sabi ko sorry, but we need to cut your hair.
Believe it or not, bad boy Robin, who has done his own stunts in his numerous action films, was nervous about the stunts he had to perform in the movie! “Mga stunts sa kabayo, nakakanerbyos,” he admits. “Kabayo yan, eh. Di iyan kotse. Ang kotse, susundin ka niyan. Kabayo, may sariling utak ‘yan.
For Regine, the challenge was coping with the weather. “The weather has been very strange lately,” she says. “Ulan, araw, ulan. Nagkatrangkaso ako. I’m okay now pero syempre, hinay-hinay lang muna kasi baka mabinat.”
Off-cam, Robin has been taking good care of his leading lady, never leaving her side and always seeing to her needs. It’s this closeness that lends an extra “oomph” to their on screen chemistry.
When asked what the best part of filming the movie was, Robin was quick to answer, “’Yung kissing scene, syempre!” He continues, “Magaling ‘yung storya. Love triangle -- ako, si Regine, at saka si Direk Eddie Garcia. Ibang klase, iba’t-ibang henerasyion. Magaling (ang) director namin, cinematographer namin. ‘Yung storya, buo.”
Till I Met You shows a Robin, Regine, and even Eddie that’s different from most of their previous screen roles. This is both a pleasant change and a challenge for the actors.
On her role, Regine notes “I’ve never played a character like this before…“Maganda nga kasi ang daming pwedeng gawin, ang daming pwedeng i-develop.”
There are many things to watch out for in Till I Met You. Robin gives us his top picks: “Una, ang balik-tambalan namin ni Regine.
And of course, there’s the lovely soundtrack, which was produced by the Songbird herself. “Syempre I’m going to sing the theme song. I’ve been asking him kasi I’m producing it also,” says Regine.“
I hope you guys will come and see Till I Met You,” Regine says. “Watch out for this. This is my 20th year in the industry and this is a nice way to celebrate (it)…It’s a very exciting film. Ma-action siya na medyo may drama ng kaunti, but very, very, very romantic. You will definitely enjoy (it). At saka syempre, team-up ulit namin ni Robin, di ba?”
Hiyaaah!”
Till I Met You will make you laugh, cry and fall in love. It opens on October 11, 2006 in more than 100 theaters nationwide.
