Regine, di malilimutan ang concert ni Barbra

BABYTALK Ni Salve V. Asis

Nasa audience raw kasi sina Barry Manilow, Kurt Rusell, Tom Hanks, Goldie Hawn, Leonardo DiCaprio, Rosie O’Donell, Shirley Maclaine among others na sikat.

Nagustuhan daw niya ang pakikipagtrabaho kay Piolo when they did an episode in the drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya, three years back.

A co-production venture between Star Cinema and Viva Films, na-assign si Bb. Joyce Bernal para mag-direk ng Regine-Piolo movie.

Direk Joyce has always loved working with Piolo, whom she directed in Don’t Give Up On Us, which also starred Judy Ann Santos. Direk Joyce and Regine last worked together in Pangako, Ikaw Lang, kung saan si Aga Muhlach ang nakatambal ng singer-actress.

Robin, Regine titillate today

Malaya

THE time has finally come for moviegoers everywhere. GMA and Viva Films present "Till I Met You," an endearing romantic drama starring crowd drawers Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez. Both Viva homegrown talents, Robin and Regine performed exceptionally well in the film.

Regine Velasquez, whose wonderful vocals complement the scenes of the movie beautifully, was so caught up in one dramatic scene that she fainted during the take. On the other hand, Robin’s mastery of his craft shines all throughout the film. His dramatic capability is particularly evident toward the end of the movie.

This is the story of "Till I Met You." Luisa (Regine Velasquez) has lost all faith in love. Rendered jaded by all the hardships and misery she has gone through, she gets the notion that material things would give her the happiness and security she so longs for in her life. Thus, she poses as a rich and "sosyal" girl to Señor Manuel (Eddie Garcia) who is a rich, old haciendero. Señor Manuel sincerely falls in love with her and takes her to his hacienda in preparation for their wedding. There, she meets Gabriel (Robin Padilla), the right hand man of Señor Manuel who cares very much for the old man and is fiercely loyal to him.

Respected by the town’s people, Gabriel is the one person the Señor trusts the most. Sensing that Luisa is a fake and only after Señor Manuel’s money, Gabriel tries to blow Luisa’s cover to prevent the wedding from taking place. However, in the process, Gabriel finds himself falling for Luisa and vice versa. They become torn between their loyalty to the old man and the love they have for each other. In the meantime, Señor Manuel senses what is happening between the two people he values most in his life. They are all caught in a knotty and problematic situation, all so unexpected, and all so unwanted. What will be the conclusion of their twisted fate?

The VIP screening of "Till I Met You" took place last October 6 at the Podium Mall. The glittering event was well attended and teeming with big names such a Karylle and boyfriend Dingdong Dantes, Rachelle Ann Go and Loren Legarda.

They never knew what love was

igma
Till I Met You is one movie that should be seen from beginning to end. This sweet love story revolves around Luisa (Regine Velasquez), a con artist who pretends to be from a good family but whose real ambition is to marry a rich old man. She sets her eyes on Don Manuel, a wealthy haciendero. Gabriel (Robin Padilla) is a ranch hand who has become like a son to Don Manuel (Eddie Garcia). It becomes Gabriel’s goal to unmask Luisa and protect his surrogate father.

The movie, a collaboration between GMA Films and Viva Films, is also the much-awaited reunion between Robin Padila and Regine Velasquez. Fans of the love team will be thrilled to find out that Till I Met You isn’t the usual Robin-Regine movie.

“This movie is really crazy,” says director Mark Reyes. “Most of the time, we were laughing more than working. I was so excited because it’s the first time I’ve gotten to work with the Bad Boy. He surprised me. I didn’t know he had that much depth. I’ve never seen any of his films that dealt with drama or romance, so he bowled me over…”

He adds, “(The film is) different. It’s not the typical boy meets girl, boy and girl fight, boy and girl ends up falling in love. Our premise is something in that genre, but it’s something different because it’s on such a mature level. They aren’t teenyboppers anymore. Dito, Regine is actually paired up with Eddie Garcia. Pero the sweetness, the romance (is there), and it’s hilarious! You will not expect hilarious moments in this film! It’s not slapstick, it’s inherently funny. The audience will definitely enjoy this film.”

Direk Mark also marveled at the chemistry between the two lead actors. “The chemistry of Regine and Binoy? Ay! Autopilot ako when it comes to that,” he exclaims. “It’s a matter of us discussing (what to do). Ang sarap ng trabahong ganun, not like [when] I deal with young actors and actresses where I have to tell them (what to do). Dito, (it’s a) collaboration, so it’s really nice.”

He also says that the performances of the actors in the movie surprised even him. “Like Tito Eddie (Garcia),” he explains, “I did not expect him to have that moment, that one moment in the movie where you just want to go to the screen and hug him. That’s Eddie Garcia, who’s very tough and strong but in the film, he turns into a teddy bear na talagang awang-awa ka. Even Robin came out sensitive here. Regine, I think she’s going to win an award here. You can quote me on that. She will win an award!”

In the film, Robin and Regine start out as competitors, but in the end they find themselves falling for each other. Will they choose to be with each other at the risk of hurting those around them, or will they forget each other to make other people happy? The ending will surprise you! Says Direk Mark, “Just like Moments of Love, when you watch it, you will be surprised with how things turn out. It’s not what they expect it to be, so they will enjoy it definitely.”

Till I Met You held a special screening at The Podium last October 6. The screening was attended by many industry insiders, as well as celebrities. Here’s what some of them have to say about the movie:

Gabby Eigenmann: Great! Fantastic! Di siya mukhang local. It’s actually done very well and all I can say is that people should watch this. They cannot miss this movie. The Robin Padilla-Regine Velasquez tandem will always be the best.

Eddie Garcia: It’s a very good film, a beautifully written script, very well directed by Mr. Mark Reyes. He’s a very good director. That’s what made the film.

Jackie Rice: Ang ganda, grabe. Naiyak ako, ang saya-saya!

Marky Cielo: Sobrang nakakatuwa.

Biboy Ramirez: Ganda. It will make you think, (because of the) ending.

Speaking of endings, make sure you stick around until the credits. Not only will the ending surprise you, the credits are fun to watch and will give you a glimpse of the fun everyone had while making the film. Till I Met You is a film that cannot be missed!
Till I Met You, a collaboration between GMA Films and Viva Films, opens today in more than 100 theaters nationwide.

Regine Velasquez, babaeng kaladkarin!

Rey Pumaloy
Abante

"I’m so lucky and blessed dahil ang daming sumuporta sa akin noong bagu-bago pa lang ako.

"The reason why I want to help new artists, because of what these big names in the industry did to me when I’m just starting.

"Isa akong kaladkaring babae! I don’t know, nag-i-enjoy akong mag-guest sa mga shows. I feel fulfilled kapag ganu’n.

Robin and Regine Reunited!

GMA

Be prepared to fall in love again this October as GMA Films and Viva Films present Till I Met You, starring Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez. After a long time, these two lovebirds are back to give their fans the thrill of a lifetime!

Robin Padilla plays Gabriel, a ranch hand who is like a son to the local haciendero, Don Manuel (Eddie Garcia). One day, Don Manuel brings home Luisa (Regine Velasquez), whom he plans to marry. It is only Gabriel who realizes that Luisa isn’t all that she seems to be, and the more he tries to find out about who she really is, the more he finds himself falling for her. Says Robin of his character, “Di naman siya bad, di naman siya good. Isa siyang mahilig sa kabayo, sa nature. Isa siyang totong tao.”

He goes on to say that Till I Met You was really five years in the making – that is, if you count the time he spent persuading Regine to do another film with him! “Nagtampo ako diyan,” Robin says, meaning Regine. “Limang taon akong – lambing yan, ha, di totoo – limang taon kong liniligawan ‘yan na gumawa ulit (ng pelikula.) Ngayon, pinagbigyan ako.”

Finally, Regine said yes. She was so enthusiastic about the project she even convinced Robin to cut his then waist-length hair! “Lagi ko yata ginagawa ‘yan,” Regine laughs. “Yung first time, sa Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, ako din ‘yun. He was growing it pero sabi ko sorry, but we need to cut your hair.

Believe it or not, bad boy Robin, who has done his own stunts in his numerous action films, was nervous about the stunts he had to perform in the movie! “Mga stunts sa kabayo, nakakanerbyos,” he admits. “Kabayo yan, eh. Di iyan kotse. Ang kotse, susundin ka niyan. Kabayo, may sariling utak ‘yan.

For Regine, the challenge was coping with the weather. “The weather has been very strange lately,” she says. “Ulan, araw, ulan. Nagkatrangkaso ako. I’m okay now pero syempre, hinay-hinay lang muna kasi baka mabinat.”

Off-cam, Robin has been taking good care of his leading lady, never leaving her side and always seeing to her needs. It’s this closeness that lends an extra “oomph” to their on screen chemistry.
When asked what the best part of filming the movie was, Robin was quick to answer, “’Yung kissing scene, syempre!” He continues, “Magaling ‘yung storya. Love triangle -- ako, si Regine, at saka si Direk Eddie Garcia. Ibang klase, iba’t-ibang henerasyion. Magaling (ang) director namin, cinematographer namin. ‘Yung storya, buo.”

Till I Met You shows a Robin, Regine, and even Eddie that’s different from most of their previous screen roles. This is both a pleasant change and a challenge for the actors.

On her role, Regine notes “I’ve never played a character like this before…“Maganda nga kasi ang daming pwedeng gawin, ang daming pwedeng i-develop.”

There are many things to watch out for in Till I Met You. Robin gives us his top picks: “Una, ang balik-tambalan namin ni Regine.

And of course, there’s the lovely soundtrack, which was produced by the Songbird herself. “Syempre I’m going to sing the theme song. I’ve been asking him kasi I’m producing it also,” says Regine.“

I hope you guys will come and see Till I Met You,” Regine says. “Watch out for this. This is my 20th year in the industry and this is a nice way to celebrate (it)…It’s a very exciting film. Ma-action siya na medyo may drama ng kaunti, but very, very, very romantic. You will definitely enjoy (it). At saka syempre, team-up ulit namin ni Robin, di ba?”

Hiyaaah!”

Till I Met You will make you laugh, cry and fall in love. It opens on October 11, 2006 in more than 100 theaters nationwide.

Regine muntik pagsamantalahan ni Robin

Dennis Aguilar
People's Journal

“Let’s talk nalang about my movie with Regine Velasquez.

Nanghihinayang nga ako’t take one lang.

Regine: walang non-showbiz boyfriend

Abante Tonite
Joe Barrameda

Should Robin sing?

by : Remy Umerez
People's Journal

IN some cases, action stars do sing. Or try to sing. Former president Joseph Estrada has one ready song which he renders regardless of the occasion. The song is “Kahit na Magtiis.”

The late action king Fernando Poe, Jr., did a duet with Sharon Cuneta in “Kahit Konting Pagti-ngin”.

And now, it is Robin Padilla’s turn to share a song with songbird Regine Velasquez for their forthcoming romantic movie, “Till I Met You.”

Can Robin carry a tune? Well, an attempt was made and it was acceptable. Besides, Regine was there for support. It was a novelty and additional “kilig” factor.

As the movie’s playdate nears, somebody from the production wanted to pulse on how strong the movie will be at the box-office. We know it will do well provided those kissing scenes between Regine and Robin will be there for the mo-viegoers to watch.

They (the production people) gave us an assurance that there are indeed not one but several kissing scenes between an ambitious girl named Luisa who is willing to marry an old man (Eddie Garcia as Senor Manuel) and the character Robin played. Of course, such a plan will be aborted and something dreadful will happen to Senor Mauel.

We can’t stand each other lalo na nga’t na-discover kong nagpapanggap lang siyang mayaman. Sa panlabas na anyo ay para kaming mortal enemies pero secretly, we are falling in love with each other.

“Till I Met You” celebrates a lot of things. It marks the 6th co-production venture between Viva Films and GMA 7 dispelling the rumor that the two major companies were at odds with one another. The showing of the film is timed for Regine’s 20th year in showbusiness. To mark the occasion, Regine will stage a concert simply titled 20.

By some coincidence, October 11 is also the same date “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” was shown. “Till I Met You” is a must-see love story you cannot afford to miss.

Songbird and Bad Boy reunited

By : Johanna Sampan
The Manila Times
3 October 2006 8:28 AM

Five years after their first film, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez and the Bad Boy of Philippine cinema Robin Padilla are back together in another romantic movie. This time around, however, Till I Met You, in cinemas on October 11, confronted the award-winning chanteuse and the action star with tougher acting sequences. Surprisingly, shooting had been a breeze, for Robin and Regine’s friendship had blossomed on the set. In this interview, the two share more about their lives, loves and acting experiences.

How is your working relationship now than when you did your first movie?

Regine Velasquez: We’re much closer now unlike before when we did Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw. I’m comfortable with him now. Every time the taping ends we’re always together chatting. I really had a great time working with him again.

Robin Padilla: We’re very happy when we are in and out of the set. Like she said, were always together and talking about our lives.

How can you compare the tandem that you have now than before?

RP: I had a hard time in the first movie because Regine was a snob back then. After taping, she would just disappear. Now, I can say that I know her much better. Every second of every minute of every hour we’re enjoying and laughing together.

RV: Same thing with me. In Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw there’s this shyness and awkwardness. He thought I was suplada (snob). Now I’m comfy with him. I shared many things to him. We got to know each other.

How do you compare the experience of doing a romantic film from an action movie?
RP: There’s a different rush when doing an action movie. In romantic movies, emotions are really needed. It’s fulfilling when you see the whole movie after doing it.

How different is Till I Met You from the other romantic movies that you did?

RP: The story is good. The location is also good. I’m with Eddie Garcia and the element and twists of the story are really interesting. It’s easy to do love story than action movies.

How is it working with direct Mark?

RP: He’s very professional and has many ideas. I want to work with him also in an action movie.
Was there a point that you almost fell for Regine?

RP: Yes! But I don’t think she wants someone (my type). When we talked about marriage, Regine wants to be the only one in her husband’s life. In Muslim tradition, we can marry more than one.

And why is that?

RV: Of course, who wouldn’t want it? I can’t go through a lot of pain. If I can prevent it, why not? I believe there’s someone out there for me. Just for me.

You remained unattached to anyone for so long. How come?

RV: That’s what you know. Seriously, I’m happy. Yes, I’m committed and yes, I’m in love.

We’re four years already and I’m just keeping it. One day, I will be happy to announce who the guy is.

And when will that be?

RV: After 10 years…

How does this special person make you happy?

RV: He balances everything for me. This person who I am with right now makes me happy. Yes, in a relationship there are sunny and rainy days and we all learn from that experience. It’s really nice to have somebody to share whatever success you have.

Why haven’t you introduced him to the public yet?

RV: Because of the rumors, I want to spare him from that. He is not used to it and I want privacy.

Is he Ogie Alcasid?

RV: Ogie is a good friend and he respects me but no, it’s not Ogie.

Regine just said that she’s already committed. What can you say about it?

RP: I’m happy for her. If she’s happy then I’m happy for her.

BF, figment of Regine’s imagination?

by : Mario E. Bautista
Journal Online

AT the presscon for ‘Till I Met You,’ a talkative Regine Velasquez was game and willing to answer all questions asked of her, including about her personal life. She admitted she’s no longer a virgin and that she has a secret boyfriend for four years.

Of course, she won’t reveal the guy’s identity, and this makes the writers present suspect that she’s just making him up to deflect from the rumor linking her to Ogie Alcasid. As one writer remarked: “Buti’t sobrang martir sa bait ang BF niya at pumayag na itago siya for four years. Baka naman figment of the imagination lang ‘yan.”

“I’m just really good at keeping a secret,” Regine adds. I’m sure naman you’d understand me. One day, I’ll definitely reveal who the guy is and I hope you respect na lang us muna. Sa ngayon, all I can say is that this person is the one who’s making me happy and he’s making my life so colorful. Masarap naman talaga to have somebody to share whatever success you have and to share your life with, di ba? We’re very discreet and the little privacy that I have, I wanna treasure muna, okay?”

As of now, she’s busy promoting her movie, “Till I Met You”, to be shown on October 11, and her 20th anniversary concert, “Twenty”, at the Araneta Coliseum on October 13 & 14, with the Manila Symphony Orchestra II conducted by Arturo Molina. Her concert is sponsored by Wyeth’s Promil and her special guests are pro-gifted musicians Joseph Valdes (son of Luchi Cruz-Valdes), Jacob Sarreal, Christian Tan and Paulina and Pocholo Gutierrez. Together, they have recorded the commemorative song about nurturing the gift each child has, “The Gift Inside of You”, composed by Raul Mitra who’s the concert’s musical director.

“The concert is very special,” says Regine. “For the set, we’ll have a Roman coliseum built inside the big dome, with the center stage holding a grand staircase that leads to the upper box gallery. To highlight my love affair with the movies, I’ll sing a medley of hit movie themes with film clips from my films. I’m also co-directing this with my manager of 13 years, Ronnie Henares. I’ll be doing the duets I did with Jomari Chan, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs and Paul Anka.”

Tickets to the once-in-a-lifetime show are available at all SM branches or Aria Productions at 926-7868.

Regine on Ogie and Robin

Rey Pumaloy
Abante

"Robin is very sweet. He’s very nice.

Sabi niya, what’s wrong?

Sabi niya, don’t worry about it.

You know what I mean.

by : Lito Mañago
Journal Online

Very malambing. Gentleman. There’s so many qua-lities niya na he reminds me of him kaya naging close na close ako sa kanya nga-yon.

Is marriage in the of-fing?

“Probinsiyana ako. conservative ako in a way, pero to be honest, iba ang pananaw ko sa marriage. Sa akin, more than being married, more than the marriage itself, mas importante sa akin kung okay ka-mi.

“Kung talagang nagmamahalan kami. And we’re really meant to be together. If he asked me for a marriage, then I’ll be happy. If he doesn’t, okey lang din.

Unless, magkaanak ako, definitely, we’ll get married. Kawawa naman ang magiging baby ko,” sambit pa ng lea-ding lady ni Robin sa Till I Met You which is set to open on Oct. 11, a day bago ang major concert ni Regine sa Araneta Coliseum.

Regine’s virginity not a big deal

by : Bong De Leon
Jounal Online

REGINE Velasquez shocked some members of the movie press when she admitted: “I’m no longer a virgin and I have a non-showbiz boyfriend for four years now and I am happy.”

So, did it end speculations about her and singer-comedian Ogie Alcasid? No. Some doubting Thomases say it could be her way to quash the rumor once and for all, but the shock just came quick but less destructive than typhoon Milenyo.

It would not help her movie, “Till I Met You” with Robin Padilla, either. The movie shall speak for itself, as it is well-made. No need for elaborate press release, nor a love angle between Robin and Regine as we all know that GMA Films would not collaborate with Viva Films if they don’t have a good movie. Its director, Mark Reyes, has a good track record when it comes to quality, and moviegoers now know how to dissect them. In fact, the movie won’t be booked in about 150 theaters when it opens on October 11 if it is not a good one.

So what if Regine’s not a virgin anymore? She’s 30 something and that’s not a big deal. What matters to us is her talent and we love her for that.

'Till I Met You' banned sa Rockwell

ONE hundred fifty theaters na ang confirmed na paglalabasan ng Till I Met You ng GMA Films.

Sa tatlong taon after nagbalik ang GMA Films into production ang Till I Met You nina Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez ang nakatakdang magkaroon ng widest opening for the outfit.

Sa first presscon pa lang, we heard and it was confirmed na more than a hundred theaters na nga ang nagri-request na ipa-labas ang pelikula sa sinehan nila sa opening nito ng Oct. 11.

Sa mga sinehang wala sa listahan ng Viva Films, ang partner ng GMA Films sa movie at booking agent for the film, willing to pay subsidy for the negative prints sila para maipalabas lang ang movie.

Sa second presscon, we got a confirmation na it will be shown in one hundred fifty theatres nationwide.

Having said that though, hindi raw ito pinayagang ipalabas sa Powerplant sa Rockwell owned by the Lopezes.

Robin & Regine: Will history repeat itself?

By Mario E. Bautista

[snip]

GMA Films and Viva Films co-produce the Robin Padilla-Regine Velasquez reunion film, ’Till I Met You. Does this mean they have reconciled after Viva transferred Rachelle Ann Go, Sarah Geronimo, Anne Curtis and other talents to ABS-CBN?

"We didn’t have any falling out," says GMA Films president Annette Gozon-Abrogar. "It just so happened that after Viva’s Search for a Star on GMA expired, it was not renewed kaya nalipat sa ibang station ang talents nila. But we still have Viva’s new stars in Posh on QTV 11. Our partnership with Viva goes back a long way. On TV, we co-produced TGIS and Anna Karenina. In film, we did Ober Da Bakod 1 and 2, Sana Dalawa ang Puso Ko, Forever and Kalabog en Bosyo. So this isn’t really the first time GMA and Viva are working together."

’Till I Met You will open on Oct. 11, the same playdate of the first Robin-Regine hit, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw when it was shown six years ago. Obviously, they’re hoping history will repeat itself. In the film, Regine plays Luisa, a con-artist who seduces a wealthy haciendero, Senyor Manuel (Eddie Garcia), to get his riches.

They’re supposed to get married soon, but Senyor Manuel’s ward, Gabriel (Robin), an orphan boy he treats as his own son, suspects that Luisa is a shady character and is determined to uncover the truth about her, blowing up all her covers. The problem is he also finds himself falling in love with Luisa.

"This is a must-see love story," says Annette. "We didn’t follow the usual formulas in local romance movies. What we did is come up with several twists that will surely surprise the viewers. The script is written by Benedict Mique, who has come up with a totally different love story, and directed by Mark Reyes. The first part is romantic-comedy and Regine proves in several scenes that she is really a fine effortless comedienne.

Robin also has his own share of comic moments with Pekto as his sidekick. But there’s a turning point in the middle of the film where Regine’s true motives are discovered and the second half becomes more of a drama. This is where Robin gets to show he really deserves the Urian Best Actor award he won recently. The movie also stars StarStruck 3 Ultimate Survivors Marky Cielo and Jackie Rice to attract the teen crowd."

Robin wants to make Regine his 2nd wife?

Philstar

The Muslim religion Islam allows a Muslim man to have as many as five wives but how come Robin Padilla has only one wife and has yet to have a second wife?

"I don't want to be divorced if ever I will have a second wife," said Robin at the presscon of "Till I Met You," his reunion flick with Asia's Songbird Ms. Regine Velasquez. "I was divorced by my second wife before. I don't want that to happen again."

And if ever there's a chance for him to have a second wife, Robin has picked Regine as his choice. That is, if Regine would agree to be his wife. That's why the action star is doing his darndest best in courting the elusive Songbird, showering her with attention while they were filming "Till I Met You" on location shoot, amidst the cool breeze of Tagaytay.

Will his wife Liezel agree that he take a second wife?

"Papayag ho iyon, ayaw lang noon ay girlfriend," said Robin who seems very certain that Liezel would agree. Under the Islamic law, a girlfriend is not seen as equal with the wife. "If a man has a girlfriend, he'd treat her in a special way. But if he were to have two wives, the wives have equal rights. Kasi ang babae, pag girlfriend, masyadong…kasi pag-girlfriend, puro palihim. Ayaw ng Islam ng ganun," said Robin.

So would Regine agree to be her girlfriend or to be her wife?

"We haven't talked about that," Robin said.

So what's the truth regarding the item that he offered Regine marriage?

"We haven't reached that point. When we were talking about marriage, she asked me how many wives can a Muslim have. I told her as many as four. Then she said, hindi ko kaya iyon. Gusto ko ako lang. I didn't get to offer her marriage so there's a plan B. Plan B is to court her. Mahabang ligawan. Nagpaparamdam pa rin ako sa kanya," said the action star.

"I jokingly tell her, will you marry me? I can't be serious with that right now. I have to prepare for that.

Well, we hate to spoil the fun for Robin, but if we were to read between Regine's lines in a separate interview, Robin might as well accept the fact that he's wishing for the moon if he hopes that Regine will become his girlfriend, much more so, if he's hoping that she'll agree to be his second wife.

After all, Regine said, she has a boyfriend and it's just a matter of time before she reveals who he is.
